Starter belt caught in gears

If you run a 7.5cc engine on a gearbox, unless you take precautions to prevent it, at some point you will definitely get the starter belt caught in the gears. This usually happens at the start of a big final and you normally have to loosen the engine from the gearbox to release the belt. This all takes time whilst the race continues without you.

A simple modification to the gearbox with an alloy plate will prevent the belt getting caught in the gears



Drill and tap the gearbox for 3mm bolts, mount the plate as shown below so that the belt cannot get behind the pulley
